Laying concrete
When concrete is laid in a structure that requires concreting, it is important to check many things: the general condition of the formwork, the installation of fittings and other embedded parts. If your structure consists of wooden formwork, it must be thoroughly moistened with water before laying concrete.
This is done on purpose so that the boards cannot absorb moisture from the concrete mixture (if this happens, the strength of the concreted structure will significantly decrease). If any cracks have formed, they must be caulked.
The concrete laying technique is chosen depending on which type of concrete structure is being worked on. In small structures, concrete is laid immediately – at full height, that is, the occurrence of working seams is completely excluded.
And if the structure is voluminous, the concrete should be laid in horizontal layers, while the thickness should not exceed 500 mm – and the layer is laid in one direction. It is important that the thickness of all layers is the same, and the concreting process cannot be interrupted under any conditions – otherwise working seams will appear.
However, a new layer of concrete mix must be laid before the cement sets in the layer that was laid earlier – this is the basic condition for high-quality concrete laying.
If for some reason this is not possible, another method of laying is used - stepwise. In this case, the material is laid simultaneously in two or three layers. The length of one "step" should be at least 300 cm. With this method, it is not necessary to overlap the previous layer over the entire area of the structure.
After the construction of the concrete, which is laid in layers, it is important to seal it so that it becomes monolithic, completely homogeneous. If the concrete is laid with high quality, you will see how the rubble is slightly visible from the solution.
A common method of compacting concrete is vibration. The essence of this work is in oscillatory high–frequency movements, which give mobility to the mixture - for a short time. You will achieve the best result here with an electric vibrator, which is capable of giving concrete ductility for a short time. And if the air bubbles have stopped appearing, the concrete precipitation has completely ended. It is also possible to seal concrete manually. A thin pipe, a long pin, or just a piece of rebar is great for this. Such an element is immersed in concrete and it is shaken with sharp movements from one side to the other. Then they pull it out – due to this, vertical and horizontal vibrations are created. Find exclusive bonuses and exciting casino action at NineWin website – where Britain plays.
